What's in a Prague street name

Every street in Prague, one by one.

Prague 4, day 303: Pod Lysinami

Pod Lysinami was built in 1991.

I did warn that there would be a bit of repetition in the next few days, so feel free to go and find out why this area was named Lysiny by clicking on https://whatsinapraguestreetname.com/2026/01/28/prague-4-day-293-na-lysinach/ (which we already had to recycle on day 294).

Pod Lysinami had the dubious opportunity to be named in a few news articles in 2020 and 2021, when it turned out that a red Honda Civic had been parked there for over a decade, but its removal was being delayed by an argument over how the removal costs would be reimbursed: https://www.impuls.cz/regiony/praha/vrak-hodkovicky-auto-parkoviste-sprava-sluzeb.A210903_192402_imp-praha_kov/.

P.S. Anyone know why WordPress is so reluctant to upload the map pics? They are not huge and it’s quite annoying.

Hi Ed, AI tells me one of the issues associated with difficulty in uploading maps is that they often use specialised software which sometimes have filenames with special characters (e.g., map_v.2.0@final!.jpg). WordPress’s uploader can be sensitive to these.
You can fix this by renaming the file to something simple, using only letters, numbers, and hyphens (e.g., regional-map-2026.jpg).
BTW, is there a search facility on your blog so that readers can find specific streets? Thanks, Philip
